It’s an addiction. It was designed that way, this tech of ours. Humans welded to screens everywhere you go. At stations, on trains, in cafes and restaurants. If we can’t resist it, how can children?
This is one of the reasons why we’re publishing The Bubbling Toad Stories on Yoto. So you and your kids can listen away from screens and phones and all that lurks beneath.
It’s also why I wanted to create a magical world that you can explore in real life. One that connects us to the wildlife around us, and to the magic within.
You might also like to know that there’s also a brilliant campaign that’s gathering momentum all over the world. It’s called Smartphone Free Childhood. From WhatsApp groups to entire movements. It was started by Joe Ryrie and is supported by people like Dr Rangan Chatterjee, Paloma Faith, Kate Winslet, not to mention swathes of parents – maybe you’d like to join, too?
